JOE COLE SAYS WERNER SHOULD IMPROVE ON HIS FINISHING

According to former Chelsea player Joe Cole, Frank Lampard should start thinking of dropping striker Timo Werner if his poor form in front of goal continues. Werner has not been in the form he would have loved to be in, enduring a goal drought as well as missing some important match-costing chances to score goals.

Werner who was brought in by Lampard from German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig has failed to find the back of the net in his last ten games, and fans are starting to get frustrated at his poor run of form.

In their most recent game in the Premier League against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Werner missed a couple of opportunities which would eventually cost them the match as the Blues fell to a 2-1 defeat at the Wolves home ground.

And a former player of the Stamford Bridge faithful Joe Cole has sent a clear message to Werner that his poor goalscoring run should be brought to an end, advising Lampard to drop the Germany international striker to the bench should he continue being barren in front of goal.

In the game against Wolves at the Molineux stadium, Werner played the full 90 minutes but was toothless in front of goal all game, an event which Nuno Espirito’s lads took advantage of, coming from behind to overturn a 1-goal deficit and winning the match at the death.

Werner’s fellow striker Olivier Giroud was the scorer of Chelsea’s goal and has been in fine form in recent weeks, leading to fans suggesting that the Frenchman be given more game time ahead of Werner should the situation continue in this manner.

Joe Cole says he knows Werner is a dangerous player and is a proven goalscorer, but stated that he should miss fewer chances and be more clinical by scoring goals.
